Error when embedding content in Canvas
The Web Support Team (WST) were recently made aware of an issue affecting Mediasite Users when trying to embed content in the Canvas LMS via the rich text editor.

Update - This issue has now been resolved as part of the latest Mediasite Video Platform update (7.4.4)
Embedding Mediasite content in Canvas via the rich text editor may fail due to a recent security change by Instructure. Effective September 19, 2020, Instructure has pushed out a change to their security model which will impact integrations with Canvas such as Mediasite. With this change implemented in the live Canvas environment, some methods of embedding content will no longer work, please see details in the table below.
Type | Pass/Fail | Description |
Presentation Link | Pass | Presentation link places a hyperlink to the video in your Page. |
Presentation Player Only | Fail | Embeds media player only. |
Presentation Abstract Only | Fail | Links to the presentation with a thumbnail image and presentation details. |
Presentation Abstract + Player | Fail | Embedded presentation with a thumbnail image and presentation details. |
Existing Embedded Content
Please note: Existing embedded content will not be impacted and will continue to be accessible. This is only an issue with adding new embedded content.
Solution
Sonic Foundry is currently working on an update to the Mediasite Video Platform which will resolve this issue and they expect this update to be available within the next week.
