The Occupational Health Service provides a wide range of services to the University and its staff for the prevention of work related injury or ill-health. Services include pre-employment health screening, statutory health surveillance, immunisations and provision of policy and guidance to the University on a range of occupational health matters.
Staff can attend practical training sessions such as including Being Assertive and Coping with Change. There are also dedicated programmes for staff and managers on how to improve personal resilience and manage stress in the workplace. Staff Counselling Service - Carecall has been commissioned to provide staff with a free independent confidential and professional counselling service. Carecall Professional Counsellors are fully qualified and experienced in a wide range of issues. They have a sensitive and practical approach, no matter what work or personal difficulties staff may experience.
The Stress Policy has been introduced to raise awareness of stress and to provide clear information on how it can be addressed.
The University Safety Service provides advice and assistance to staff regarding health and safety at work.
The University is committed to protecting the health of New and Expectant Mothers and reducing any work related risks that could affect their or their baby's health. The Occupational Health Service will provide advice on pregnancy related matters.
