Keira Williams

I am a U.S. historian who previously taught at universities in Louisiana, South Carolina, and Texas. I've written books about motherhood and politics in the 1990s; matriarchies in American pop culture; and southern feminism. My current book project examines race, gender, music, and resistance to Jim Crow, using the 1950 Ku Klux Klan attack on Charlie's Place in South Carolina in 1950 as a case study.
