The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) is the national membership body representing Scotland’s voluntary sector. Its mission is to champion the role of voluntary organisations in creating a fair and flourishing society. Aaron Slater, Digital Participation Manager, brings extensive expertise in digital inclusion and will lead this area of work within SUMIT. Digital inclusion ensures that people have the right combination of devices, connectivity, skills, confidence, motivation, and design support to move from digital exclusion to full participation.

Led by Moira Mackenzie, Chief Executive of DHI, the team leads SUMIT’s digital innovation activities in collaboration with the University of St Andrews and SCVO. Drawing on extensive experience in implementing digitally enabled services, DHI applies a collaborative, design-led approach to align individual, workforce, and organisational needs—turning insights into practical solutions that enhance services, products, and processes across SUMIT.

Professor Catherine Comiskey leads the Trinity College Dublin (TCD) team, which heads the research and evaluation for SUMIT. This cross-cutting activity spans all project areas, aiming to assess SUMIT’s impact and develop a cross-border model for implementing effective, digitally enhanced services that improve lives and reduce stakeholder burden. Working collaboratively with partners while maintaining an independent perspective, the TCD team will evaluate the effectiveness of each phase and monitor SUMIT’s contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), equality, and non-discrimination.

Led by Professor Alex Baldacchino, the University of St Andrews team brings extensive expertise in innovation science through the Digital Health Interventions in Addiction Studies (DigitAS) programme. Recognised by the United Nations and the World Health Organization, and advising both the European Parliament and the Scottish Government, DigitAS is a leading international centre in this field. The team also contributes directly to healthcare delivery. Within SUMIT, the University of St Andrews will support DHI in the digital activity and lead on the implementation of the digital products.
