You are welcome to attend the public lecture

'Situated Intersectionality, Inequality and Bordering Processes'

Speaker: Professor Nira Yuval-Davis, University of East London

Abstract

In this lecture I introduce and discuss my approach to situated intersectional analysis and how it can help to describe - and even explain - different kinds of social, economic, political and personal inequalities. I shall start by discussing the ways traditionally sociological studies describe inequality focusing on issues of class and then introduces intersectionality as a theoretical framework which can encompass different kinds of inequalities, simultaneously (ontologically), but enmeshed (concretely).  The latter part of the lecture examines the ways different kinds of systemic borderings provide multiple grounds for the production and reproductions of these inequalities.
