Congratulations to Honorary Professor Melani Cammett on being elected to the prestigious American Academy of Arts and Sciences, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to political science and public policy, as well as her commitment to advancing research that informs contemporary challenges.

Melani Cammett is the Clarence Dillon Professor of International Affairs in the Department of Government, Harvard University and is Director of the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. She is renowned for her scholarship on identity politics, conflict, and development in the Middle East and other contexts. She is currently working on a book project that explores how people live together after violence, focusing on Bosnia-Herzegovina, Lebanon, and Northern Ireland.

Established in 1780, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences convenes leaders from across disciplines to address significant societal issues and provide pragmatic solutions for complex challenges, through independent, nonpartisan research. Election to the Academy is one of the nation’s highest honours, celebrating individuals whose work has advanced the common good and enriched intellectual life.
