The focus will be on themes of conflict, peacebuilding and human rights

Northern Irish poet and playwright DAMIAN GORMAN has been described as "Ireland's best-kept secret". His work has garnered many awards over the past 25 years, from a Better Ireland Award to an MBE; a Golden Harp to a BAFTA.

But he says that, "for me - just for me - writing on its own isn't enough"

As well as his own writing, he has worked for many years to encourage writing in other people and communities, especially in areas of conflict.  This work has been recognised by the Commission for Racial Equality.

Damian has most recently been appointed as a Fellow of the Oxford Initiative for Global Ethics and Human Rights.  He is also currently the Peacebuilder Arts Resident at the Theatre and Peacebuilding Academy at The Playhouse in Derry/Londonderry.

Drinks and snacks will be served.

This event is open to QUB students, staff and the general public.  Spaces are strictly limited and must be booked in advance.

Please RSVP to mitchell.institute@qub.ac.uk by noon on Friday 8 November 2019.
