The Symposium has been organised with the support of the School of Arts, English and Languages, the Mitchell Institute, the Institute of Irish Studies and the Ulster Museum.

This event is free to attend (with lunch and refreshments) but booking is essential.

  • Symposium Plenary and Reception - 5:30pm - 9:00pm

Opening Lecture with Professor Fran Brearton (QUB), ‘“Noli timere, frater”: Love, Letters and War’. Chaired by Professor Edna Longley (QUB)

 

Thursday 16 May 2024 from 9:15am - 7:30pm

  • Registration and coffee - 9:15am - 9:45am
  • Welcoming remarks and Symposium Panels - 9:45am - 1:30pm
  • Lunch - 1:30pm - 2:30pm
  • Curator's tour of 'The Troubles and Beyond' followed by academic presentations / 2:30pm - 7:30pm

The Curator's tour will be held in the Belfast Room at The Ulster Museum.

 

Friday 17 May 2024 from 9:30am - 6:15pm

  • Welcome refreshments - 9:30am - 10:00am
  • Symposium Panels - 10:00am - 1:30pm
  • Lunch - 1:30pm - 2:30pm
  • Symposium Panels - 2:30pm - 5:30pm
  • Roundtable and final thoughts - 5:30pm - 6:15pm
