Engage

As part of our outreach and engagement efforts, we deliver a dynamic programme featuring lectures and interactive workshops on Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Computer Science, and Coding. These sessions are designed to spark curiosity and provide students with a strong foundation in key areas that are shaping the future.

Our initiatives include the Pathways Opportunities Programme, Girls into Electronics, and the EEECS Summer Work Experience Camp, all offering students hands-on experiences such as Arduino, drone technology, coding, and virtual reality (VR). Programmes are especially targeted toward students from underserved communities, offering access to summer camps, bursaries, guaranteed offers, and even potential grade reductions—ensuring that opportunity and inspiration reach every learner.

We also host special events, like Ada Lovelace Day with Ashfield Girls High School, to celebrate women in technology. School visits across Northern Ireland promote awareness of AI and cybersecurity (+ 530 students Visited us) while introducing students to higher education opportunities in computing.

As part of the Northern Ireland Science Festival, our staff participated in a talk and panel discussion on Artificial Intelligence and the Computing that Drives It. The session explored the rapidly evolving landscape of AI, highlighting the technological foundations behind it and its growing impact on society. It provided an opportunity to showcase our expertise and engage the public in meaningful conversations about the future of intelligent systems.

International engagement is also part of our mission. A visit to Concordia University in Canada focused on improving software engineering education and sharing Queen’s University’s leadership in the field.
