A Return to the New Normal

18 September, 2020

A Message from Joanne Clague (Registrar and Chief Operating Officer)

Dear Colleagues,

As we approach the beginning of the new term, we have been working closely with the Students’ Union and colleagues across the University to prepare a suite of videos setting out the safety measures in place on campus, as well as key ways in which we can all play our part in preventing the spread of the virus.

Dr. Conor Bamford reminds us how the virus spreads and the key things we should all remember.

Dr Lindsay Broadbent explains more about social distancing, why it is so important and how it should be applied on campus with the help of some of the Students’ Union Officers.

Dr. Dan Corbett outlines why hand washing is one of the most important things we can do and how to do it right.

Keith Halliday, Estates Manager summarises the cleaning protocols we have in place and with the help of the SU President, what we can all do to play our part.

Dr Lindsay Broadbent summarises why face coverings are so important to reduce the spread and clarifies the University policy.

Prof. David Jones summarises how face to face teaching will be delivered in safe, socially distanced way and what everyone can do to ensure public health guidelines are adhered to.

Prof. Stuart Elborn provides clear guidance for staff and students to explain what you should do if you develop symptoms, receive a positive test or are contact traced.

We would encourage all staff to watch the videos in order to familiarise themselves with these important protocols and measures. Please also continue to review our COVID-19 FAQs, which are being updated on a regular basis.

Best wishes
Joanne Clague
Registrar and Chief Operating Officer
