Keysight Non-Linear mmWave Lab

In 2018, our test and measurement partner, Keysight Technologies, launched their second university lab in Europe for non-linear millimetre-wave research in our building.

The lab contains the latest Keysight PNA-X, allowing us to do non-linear 4-port vector network analyses up to 67 GHz. With a set of VDI frequency extenders, we also have the capability to perform network analysis up to 170 GHz.

Far Field Anechoic Chamber

Our 10m x 5m x 5m anechoic chamber offers a range of operation from 433 MHz to 50 GHz.

The three MVG/Orbit positioners allow for DUT Azimuth and Roll, and TX Roll, making the chamber capable of dual linear measurement. It features dual axes positioners for the device under test, and polarisation control on the static side. This allows the chamber to be used to create full 3D radiation patterns of single elements and arrays from 1 to 50 GHz. The frequency of operation will soon be increased to 110 GHz.

Near Field Semi-Anechoic chamber

Our 1.5m x 1.5m NSI near field scanner has two degrees of freedom and a frequency range of up to 18 GHz.

This makes it ideal for measuring antennas and large format arrays.

Reverberation Chamber

Our custom reverberation chamber (designed and installed by Bluetest AB) is operational up to 3GHz.

When combined with our range of human tissue phantoms, the reverberation chamber can be used to measure antenna efficiency for body worn and implantable antennas.

Quasi Optical Bench

Our AB millimetre MVNA-8-350 vector network analyser works from 100-700 GHz in conjunction with a purpose built quasi-optical test bench.

This employs reflective focusing optics to transform the Gaussian beam generated pairs of broad band corrugated feed horns. This set up is ideal for the characterisation of sub-millimetre frequency selective surfaces.

Probe Station

Our semi-automated probe station uses a N5260 millimetre head controller to perform on-wafer network analysis of up to 110 GHz.

Combined with the 4156C Precision Semiconductor Parameter Analyser, we have the capacity to make in-depth on-wafer measurements.
