2020 Royal Irish Academy – Gold Medal

  • Prof Vince Fusco, for outstanding contributions to the Engineering Sciences.

2020 Royal Academy of Engineering (UK) – Research Chair / 5-year Fellowship

  • Prof Trung Duong, to lead a research team for “Towards Massive Connectivity to enable Ultra-Reliable and Near Zero-Latency Communications in 6G Networks”.

2020 Royal Academy of Engineering (UK) – 5-Year Fellowship

  • Dr Nidhi Simmons, for “Enabling mission-critical applications through an intelligent URLLC framework”.

2020 Leverhulme Trust – Research Leadership Award

  • Dr Okan Yurduseven, for “Developing solutions to acute threats: compressive imaging for real-time security screening”.

2020 International Workshop on Integrated Nonlinear Microwave and Millimetre-Wave Circuits – Best Student Paper

  • Mr Moise Safari Mugisho, for "Harmonic-Injection Class-EM/F3 Power Amplifier with Finite DC-Feed Inductance".

2019 ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects: Telecommunication Engineering

  • Ranked 28th Globally, 5th in Europe, 2nd in the UK.

2019 UK Research & Innovation (UKRI): Future Leaders Fellowship

  • Dr Hien Quoc Ngo, to develop "cell-free massive MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output)” technology.

2019 EURASIP (European Association for Signal Processing): Early Career Award

  • Dr Michalis Matthaiou, for his significant contributions to signal processing for MIMO and massive MIMO systems.

2019 IEEE Globecom: Best Paper

  • Dr Trung Duong for "Learning-Aided Realtime Performance Optimisation of Cognitive UAV-Assisted Disaster Communication", co-authors Nguyen, Tuan, Hanzo.

2019 Mobile World Scholar (GSMA - global association of mobile operators): Grand Prize

  • Dr Babar Abbassi for "Low Complexity RF Front-End for mm-Wave MIMO 5G Mobile Networks", co-authors Dr Matthaiou, Prof Fusco, Dr Tataria.

2018 Mobile World Scholar (GSMA): Gold Prize

  • Dr Neil Buchanan for "Flat Self-Steered High Gain Antennas for 5G Networks", co-author Prof Fusco.

2018  39th European Space Agency (ESA) Antenna Workshop: Best Innovation Award

  • Dr Robert Cahill for "Electrochromic Material for Reconfigurable Antenna Applications", co-authors Bulja, Norooziarab, Kopf.

2018 IET Loughborough Antennas and Propagation Conference (LAPC): Best Student Paper Award

  • Miss Sarah Clendinning, for “Equivalent Circuit Model for Linear to Circular Polarisation Converters Based on Bandpass Freestanding Frequency Selected Surfaces Screens” co-authors Dr Cahill, Dr Zelenchuk, Prof Fusco.

2018 IEEE International Conference on Electronics Circuits and Systems (ICECS): Best Paper Award
