The Registry

The Northern Ireland Cancer Registry (NICR) is based at the Centre for Public Health at Queen’s University Belfast and is funded by the Public Health Agency (PHA). Established by the Department of Health in 1994, the NICR continues to receive support through the PHA. It produces annual Official Statistics on cancer incidence, prevalence, and survival in Northern Ireland, providing essential evidence to inform cancer service decisions.

We collect patient information on cancer diagnoses and the care patients receive. This data, provided by patients and gathered by the health service, helps improve cancer research, planning, and treatment.

Protecting patient information is a top priority, and we follow strict confidentiality rules to ensure individuals cannot be identified.
