FROM THE POROUS BOUND

Back to events

Pre-Viva Performance | Adam Denton

Date(s)
November 6, 2024
Location
Sonic Lab, SARC, 4 Cloreen Park Belfast
Time
18:00 - 19:00

FROM THE POROUS BOUND is/will be a performed environment combining human/machine utterance, sonic frictions and multi-screen video. This docu-collaged live composition can be encountered in The Sonic Lab in Belfast while a paratextual version may be viewed via a livestream. Deriving from Adam Denton’s PhD thesis In Fleeting Coherence, the intention of this particular mutated retelling is to facilitate a situation where the performance-to-come is considered an opportunity for work to be made and re-made publicly in (too) real time.

which
is
to
say…

FROM THE POROUS BOUND is
or will be soon,
a spatial testing of commitments ongoing.

From where
personal (and not so personal)
(an)archival material is re-articulated in the rendering
of live action.

Indisciplined, like.

Like, being(s) around and in pursuit of the wobbling line.

Leaky container, carried from where we’ve looked at acts of re-peopling
against the hegemonic project of de-peopling.

Achille Mbembe could say here that it is a way of ‘re-membering’.

There will be room between us.

Room between
utterances
made in the room.

It’s crab city, sideways.

For now, the table is moving. Legs half off.
The place itself is moving. Remember? A knocked-off thing.

Panasoanic (sick) portable CD player skip and type a thing.

It is in the venue and its immediate adjacency where we catch flailing movement, neuronic misfire and insufficient language. Dispensing with the notion of outside, I’m asking here:

what now for the dwelling creature?

&

when does the performance begin
/end?
