Paul Griffiths has edited a large volume of Ligeti's writings, in new English translations, to be published shortly. He will give an overview of this material, with examples, to show Ligeti's range, wit and acumen as a critic and theorist.

Paul Griffiths was born in Bridgend, Wales, in 1947. He studied at Oxford and became a music critic in London (1972–92) and New York (1992–2002). Along the way came books on music and novels, both of which he has continued to write, probably the best known in those two domains being Modern Music and After and let me tell you. Three composers have won the Grawemeyer Award for settings of words by him: Tan Dun (Marco Polo), Hans Abrahamsen (let me tell you) and Christian Mason (invisible threads).
