Join the 'eartHeart Immersion' a multidisciplinary event merging live performance and participatory involvement created by Juanita Rea, Visiting Scholar at the School of Arts, English and Languages, Queen's University Belfast (QUB) and Arts Council Northern Ireland, Minority Ethnic Mentorship and Residency Awardee. Over the past few months, Juanita has been working with Prof Franziska Schroeder as mentor, receiving input and technical support from the entire SARC team and has been supported by Isaac Gibson with field recordings, post-production and installation/performance set up.

Juanita will invite audiences to join a deeply immersive journey at the world-class Sonic Lab at SARC where the team will be supporting her to merge spoken word, music, visual art, soundscapes. There will be live performance by Juanita, Chip Bailey, Rory Nellis and live improvisation by Prof Franziska Schroeder and possibly other SARC artists. Recordings include music from Peter Wilson, aka Duke Special and Liz Kelly.

As Juanita tells a story of personal healing through immersion in nature, audiences will be invited to reconnect with the elements - earth, water, fire, air, space, light with spirit being the guide for a shared collective journey aimed at facilitating a greater awareness of self and the natural environment with the aim of evoking an urgent responsibility to take mindful care of ourselves, and our planet. Alongside the live performance, audiences will go deep during a live guided 'sound-bath' type set. The Sonic Lab will be a temporary MEtime in Nature Mandala with the use of 6 screens positioned all around the room, with footage and visual art, soundscapes and live performance as well as guided meditations by Juanita.

There will be 25 spaces for participants who need to bring yoga mats, cushions, blankets and 10 spaces for seated participants. There will be limited yoga mats and cushions available for those who need it. However most participants will need to bring their own equipment and must dress comfortably for the event.

Doors will open at 18:45 for a 19:00 start. Participants are encouraged to come earlier to visit the 'MEtime in Nature Mandala' an accompanying on-site installation next door to the Sonic Lab that will be open until 18:45. Registration via the website enables access to the virtual Mandala. https://bit.ly/metime-in-nature-virtual-mandala

Book a 'by donation' ticket on-site or online access with donations also being received either on-site or online. Donations go towards Juanita's work with her team at MEtime Mandala Ltd to build on the no-code virtual gallery (PoC) she created on this website for the MEtime in Nature Mandala installation, and to create an app that allows more seamless user interaction as well as tracking and personalisation.
