Docs Ireland and SARC: Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Sound and Music present a sonically rich double bill.

Sensual Nature of Sound: 4 Composers Laurie Anderson, Tania Leon, Meredith Monk, Pauline Oliveros (1993) dir. Michael Blackwood.

The Sensual Nature of Sound portrays four New York based composers and performers in terms of their musical lives. Although all four women composers are pioneers in American music, each composer pursues a distinct direction of her own.

The SARC x 20 experience, by Pedro Rebelo and Frank Delaney, is composed of sounds and images from archive of creative work by SARC researchers and PhD alumni between 2004 and 2024 and makes use of the Sonic Lab’s unique immersive capabilities. The result is a five screen experimental documentary with spatial audio which expands narrative and chronologies across space.

Pauline Oliveros has collaborated with SARC a number of times, her Deep Listening has become so influential to all interested in sound and music.
