SARC Director Professor Pedro Rebelo represented SARC at a European Meeting of Experimental Studios in Strasbourg.
On the occasion of the 43rd edition of the Musica Festival, the first meeting day brought together European experimental studios and the French National Centers for Music Creation (CNCM). The goal is to showcase the activities of the different institutions, foster exchanges, share perspectives, and explore opportunities for cooperation on a European
scale. Participating institutions include:
• Elektronmusikstudion (EMS), Stockholm, Sweden
• Experimentalstudio of SWR, Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany
• Institute of Sonology / Royal Conservatoire, The Hague, Netherlands
• SARC: Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Sound and Music – School of Arts, English & Languages, Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom
• Groupe de Recherche Musicale (GRM), Paris, France
• Musica Festival, Strasbourg
• L’Institut Français / French Institut
• 5 out of the 8 French National Centres for Music Creation (CNCM)
This gathering took take place during the opening weekend of the Musica Festival on Saturday, September 2025, offering the opportunity to engage with other international
visitors and institutional representatives. On the program: joint presentations, discussions on practices and shared challenges, identification of future directions for a European project. A unique occasion to strengthen ties between our studios and contribute to the vitality of contemporary music creation in Europe.
Looking ahead
Beyond an initial exchange, this day aimed to open up new avenues for collaboration, in a European spirit and in line with the ongoing missions of supporting creation and technological innovation that unite these studios.
