Re-Sounding Identities
"Re-Sounding Identities" - a fully funded PhD exploring VR Music Making & Storytelling with Asylum-Seeking Communities in Northern Ireland, particularly young women and girls. The project investigates how immersive technologies can foster inclusion, belonging, and skills development for marginalised groups facing displacement, gender inequalities, and cultural invisibility.
The project is led by Franziska Schroeder in collaboration with Kim-Marie Spence of QUB's School of Arts, English & Languages. Immersive Ireland, as an industry partner will be supporting the successful candidate with XR skills development and sharing approaches to digital placemaking and socially engaged methods.
We invite applications from creative practitioners based in NI/ROI/UK who have expertise in VR/XR or transferable skills in areas such as media production. A background in socially engaged practice would be valuable too.
