In February 2023, and as part of the NI Science Festival, SARC hosted a chapter of the International Synth Design Hackathon, in collaboration with local sound-art collective Toneburst , South Eastern Regional College, and the SynthUX Academy.

We invited participants from inside and outside QUB, beginners and the more experienced alike to build their own sound experiences using microcontrollers and various digital fabrication technologies such as laser cutters and 3D printers. The event was a tremendous success and is returning for 2024.
