Assisted/Self insemination

• Assisted or self insemination is an option for an HIV positive woman when her partner is HIV negative
  • Semen from her HIV negative partner is inseminated as high as possible into the vagina using a plastic syringe around the time of expected ovulation
• Advantages: cheap, can do it yourself, no risk to the man 
• Disadvantages: clinical
