The Programme

An accredited qualification

CMI is designed to help you develop your leadership and management skills. The level 7 Certificate offers you a unique opportunity to achieve a professional qualification at Queen’s. The programme is designed to enhance your theoretical understanding and competencies in leadership, project management and entreprenurial practice. CMI recognises that the learner has undergone significant personal and professional development in strategic thinking at a postgraduate level. 

Gain Foundation Chartered Manager (fCMgr) status

Completing the CMI Level 7 Qualification now grants you Foundation Chartered Manager (fCMgr) status. Foundation Chartered Manager is a professional status for aspiring or early career managers. Assessed against CMI’s Professional Standard, Foundation Chartered Manager demonstrates you have the foundation skills needed to be an effective manager and are committed to further developing those skills to deliver better business results. 

Being a Foundation Chartered Manager puts your long-term career goals firmly within your reach. Get clear, tailored development guidance to help you from one milestone to the next — not only showing your commitment to your Continuing Professional Development (CPD), but also setting you up with a lifelong career partner dedicated to helping you succeed.

What's it involve?

The Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice requires you to complete two of the three CMI units offered at the Graduate School. Each unit encompasses a number of training days together with one piece of assessed work. Assessment schedules will be provided at the beginning of your programme.

Programme Units (choose two of the three):

Strategic Leadership

Unit 701

This module helps you understand the complexities of leadership from an individual and organisational perspective. Work in multidisciplinary groups to carry out challenges which will allow you to identify your leadership skills and see how they are applied within the workplace.

11 credits for 5 days of training.

Strategic Management Project

Unit 712

Understand the key processes in successful project management from initiation to delivery. Learn how to manage projects professionally and translate your personal inspiration into effective operational performance. This module will teach you how to construct a project plan and guide you through the processes of successfully implementing that plan.

10 credits over 4 days of training.

Entrepreneurial Practice

Unit 711

As a practising or aspiring leader grow your creative confidence. Develop your business acumen through the use of project management and entrepreneurial tools and techniques. As part of a team you will apply theory to a business challenge and develop the skills needed to be an entrepreneurial practitioner in today’s business world.

9 credits over 4 days of training.

How will the programme be delivered?

For the programme, you will be part of a class and have a tutor to work with you throughout. To achieve the units you will undertake a range of activities including gathering evidence of skills, reflecting on areas for development and experiences, and completing assignments.

How will the qualification be assessed?
Assessment may be by a range of activities including assignments and practice-based evidence (e.g. presentations, small projects); there are no exams to take. Expect to write approximately 3,500 words per assignment.

What does the programme cost:

The full programme fee is £995. You can make one payment of £995* or choose to pay in two instalments (*a minimum, non-refundable payment of £500 must be paid to secure your place). Full payment details will be provided, after you have submitted an application to the Programme.

*PLEASE NOTE, if you are successful in obtaining a funded place on this programme, these costs do not apply.
