Research Culture Celebration

The postgraduate research carried out at QUB is some of the most diverse in the world, encompassing an array of specialities and topics.  The ninth-oldest university in the UK, Queen’s has a proud history of conducting innovative, impactful, and world-leading research, changing people’s lives for the better.

Each June, we shine a spotlight on QUB research with our month-long 'Research Culture Celebration' here at the Thomas J Moran Graduate School.  This is a programme of events and workshops that align to the work and development needs of today's researchers, whether you're a current PhD student or a Masters student aspiring to progress to PhD. Our Research Culture Celebration talks and workshops are delivered by researcher development experts, industry consultants, and senior academics from QUB and further afield.

An annual highlight of the programme is the Queen's final of the Vitae 3 Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition, which this year will be held on Thursday 12 June 2025. If your School runs a 3MT® competition make sure your winner's name is submitted to our overall Queen's Final at the Graduate School!  There are monetary prizes and plaques awarded to the winners and the overall winner goes on to represent Queens, competing in the prestigious Vitae 3MT® UK Final.

You can now browse the first half of our Research Culture Celebration events on the Training & Events web-page - register via MyFuture so you don't miss out!

Vitae 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition

PhD students are challenged to deliver a compelling presentation on their research topic to a non-academic audience in under 3 minutes.  Come along and support the finalists - sign up via MyFuture for the final on 12th June.

Support for School Poster Competitions

The Schools at Queen's run their local poster competitions at different times of the year and the Graduate School offers two kinds of support: a Communicating With Impact: Design & Deliver an Academic Poster workshop on 22 May 2025, or a 1-2-1 session with a consultant.  Book either via MyFuture.
