Our Research
The Centre for Inclusion, Transformation and Equality (CITE) is a research institute based at Queen’s which highlights issues of inequality. The centre develops research on promoting inclusion and social justice in a variety of contexts. CITE are committed to doing research in partnership with people with lived experience and key stakeholders locally and globally to drive social change.
CITE also hosts the Disability Research Network and Ark, Northern Ireland’s social policy hub.

Critical Perspectives on Ageing in Society
CITE research aims to advance a critical understanding of ageing, engaging with the politics of ageing and the diverse perspectives of older people in society.
- Cross-Disciplinary Research on Disability Issues
The Disability Research Network (DRN), a special interest group within CITE, facilitates disabled people and academics working together on disability research.
- Advancing Mental Health Research, Policy and Practice
Mental health and capacity research in our centre explores the social determinants of mental health and the effectiveness of mental health policy and services.
- Researching Systems of Oppression and Marginalisation
Researching migration, race, ethnicity and minoritised groups is a core theme of the Centre.
- Addressing Social Justice and Inclusion in Education
Our research addresses social justice and inclusion in schools and Universities and focuses on raising attainment for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
