Supervisory Excellence Awards

The best supervisors are truly transformative, so I would like to invite you now to nominate those who you feel fit the bill.

Now in its fourth year, the annual Graduate School Supervisory Excellence Awards celebrates PhD supervisors from across the University who YOU think should be recognised for excellence in this area.

How to Nominate a Supervisor

All you need to do is to write a brief paragraph of 250-350 words on why you would like to nominate your supervisor.

Nominations should be emailed to graduateschool@qub.ac.uk by Monday 23 April 2018.

Guidelines

• Nominations can only be made PhD students.

• Nominations can be submitted by individuals or by groups of supervisees

• Supervisors nominated must be currently employed by the University and must have supervised students to completion

• Students who had previously nominated supervisors for the recent Staff Excellence Awards are particularly encouraged to resubmit your nomination

• This year’s Supervisory Excellence Awards will be announced at a presentation ceremony on Thursday 24 May 2018 in The Graduate School 

• Make it clear how your nominee stands out, and make it as persuasive as possible. Don’t just say ‘this person is committed’ – demonstrate how their commitment shows and what they have achieved as a result.

• Keep in mind that these awards are competitive – the more effort you put into your nomination, the more chance it has at success!
