About ALL-CAN Training
Our Vision
ALL-CAN Training aims to develop a new generation of researchers equipped to lead advances in precision cancer medicine and translate research into meaningful improvements for patients.
Why ALL-CAN Training?
Across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, major investments in genomics, cancer data infrastructure and precision oncology are reshaping cancer research and care. To maximise the impact of these developments, future researchers must be trained to work confidently across disciplines, institutions and jurisdictions.
ALL-CAN Training addresses this need through a structured, cohort-based doctoral training pathway that brings together academic excellence, cross-border collaboration and international research experience.
By developing researchers who can operate across data, disciplines and borders, the programme supports the translation of discovery-led research into improved cancer prevention, diagnosis and care. As part of the pathway, students undertake a research placement in the United States during the PhD phase.
An All-Island Approach
ALL-CAN Training is delivered through a partnership of leading universities across the island of Ireland. By combining complementary strengths in cancer biology, genomics, data science, epidemiology and digital health, the programme offers a genuinely collaborative training environment aligned with the realities of modern cancer research.
Funding and Support
ALL-CAN Training offers a fully funded doctoral training pathway designed to support students throughout both the Master’s and PhD phases.
