Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Visits CSIT to Explore Cutting-Edge Cyber and AI Innovation

12 June, 2025

CSIT was honoured to welcome the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, the Rt Hon Pat McFadden, on 12th June 2025 for a special visit highlighting the groundbreaking research and innovation underway at CSIT and across the wider Belfast and NI region.

During the visit, the Minister toured CSIT’s state-of-the-art facilities, led by Engineering Director Andy McClernon, and met with engineers Alex Noel Joseph Raj, Emer Campbell, and James Grant. The team shared their pioneering work in Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligence, including projects in computer vision for animal welfare and the development of intrusion detection systems for industrial control systems, vital technologies for the protection of critical infrastructure.

The visit also included discussions with key partners Darren Borland and Dr. Jeonghwan Park, who shared insights into their impactful collaborative work with CSIT, highlighting the strength of partnerships driving innovation across the region.

Judith Millar, Director of Operations at CSIT, commented: “This engagement reflects the continued recognition of CSIT as a hub of excellence in cyber security and reinforces our role in shaping the future of cyber innovation in the UK and beyond.”
