Rachel Dickson is a Research Fellow on the Wellcome Trust funded project Everyday Cyborgs 2.0: Law’s Boundary-work and Alternative Legal Futures. She is responsible for the sociolegal aspects of the project and interested in the practical implications of the law for persons with attached and implanted medical devices. More generally, Dr Dickson’s research examines the theoretical and practical implications of multi-level governance on the construction and maintenance of legal subjects. She has written on issues spanning migration, criminal justice, and Brexit.

Muireann Quigley is a Professor of Law, Medicine, and Technology at the University of Birmingham. She has an interdisciplinary background which crosses medicine, ethics, and law. This is reflected in her research which focuses on the philosophical analysis of law and policy in medicine and the biosciences. Her research in the last 5 years has focused on three main areas: (1) bodies and biomaterials, (2) bodies and (bio)technologies, and (3) the use of the behavioural sciences in law and policy. She is author of Self-ownership, Property Rights, & the Human Body: A Legal and Philosophical Analysis published in 2018 by Cambridge University Press. Muireann has received funding from a number of bodies for her work including the Leverhulme and Wellcome Trusts. She is currently leading a 5-year Wellcome Trust-funded project on persons with attached and implanted medical devices (Everyday Cyborgs 2.0: Law’s Boundary-work and Alternative Legal Futures).
