Dr Paul Miller appointed Deputy Director of CSIT
Dr Paul Miller has been appointed the role of Deputy Director of the Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT).
The Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT) is the UK’s national Innovation & Knowledge Centre (IKC) for cyber security research. CSIT was awarded a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education in 2015. Originally established in 2009, the Centre’s significant achievements over its initial five-year period have also been recognised by core funders.
The role of Deputy Director CSIT is to work in partnership with the ECIT director, Professor Máire O’Neill, to help set the future strategic direction of CSIT, grow its reputation, both nationally and internationally, improve interdisciplinary research collaboration and to support the business development team in engagements with stakeholders and industry.
Dr Miller said “I am delighted to accept this opportunity to help CSIT grow to the next step both nationally and internationally. These are really exciting times for CSIT as we seek to expand and I look forward to working in partnership with Professor Maire O’Neill.”
CSIT has world leading research expertise in network security, video analytics, cryptography, security informatics, SCADA security, malware detection and embedded security. Specifically, CSIT has core capabilities in:
- Secure hardware and embedded systems
- Post-quantum cryptography and advanced cryptography architectures
- Security Intelligence - AI for cyber security and mobile security
- Networked security systems
- Analytics-based monitoring & forensics in new network architectures
- Industrial Control Systems and Operational Technology security
- Cyber security innovation, commercialisation and policy advisory
Dr Miller is currently seeking a PhD student to work with eBay to protect and enhance the experience of hundreds of millions of eBay members. You will be expected to research state-of-the-art machine learning, functional clustering, natural language processing, text mining, and classifiers, and apply them to building amazing models that ensure the eBay platform is free from any software vulnerabilities.
