Shabnam Khanna given St John Ambulance Sovereign’s Award
Shabnam Khanna is a cybersecurity PhD student at ECIT, but in her spare time Shabnam volunteers with St John Ambulance.
Shabnam has been volunteering with St John Ambulance since 2010. Her hard work and dedication to the service was recognised this year and she was one of only 10 people globally to be given the Sovereign’s award this year.
The Sovereign’s Award is the premier achievement for young people within the Order of St John worldwide.
This award includes a certificate personally signed by the Sovereign Head of the Order, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It is given to young St John Ambulance volunteers to recognise outstanding work in the areas of personal development, benefit to St John, and benefit to their community.
Shabnam commented: “I am honoured to be one of only 10 people to be given the Sovereign’s award this year. Volunteering with St John Ambulance has taught me so many new skills and provided a great opportunity for personal development but I also really enjoy giving back to the community and could see no better way to do this that joining the team at St John Ambulance.
Shabnam added: “I look forward to continuing my work at St John Ambulance, alongside completing my PhD at ECIT.”
