Dive into the future of legal practice with our LLM Law and Technology programme, where we bridge the gap between law and technological innovation. In an era where legal work is increasingly tech-centric, employers seek graduates with a keen understanding of the intersection between law and technology.
Our highly employability-focused modules and innovative curriculum draw on the School's expertise in technology, e-governance, and innovation, creating future-ready law graduates who are both tech-savvy and tech-aware – qualities highly valued by employers.
Enjoy flexibility in tailoring the programme to your interests, including dissertation choices, and leverage state-of-the-art facilities, such as a moot court and access to multinational law firms in Belfast.
Elevate your leadership skills through the Leadership and Innovation Skills for Law Students module, offering the Master Your Leadership Programme delivered by Queen’s Graduate School. The programme also incorporates real-world scenarios, such as the Creativity and Innovation clinic, where student teams collaborate with global legal firms, providing problem-based presentations based on supervised projects.
Queen's is ranked in the top 150 universities in the world for Law (QS World Rankings 2023) and has excellent connections with multi-national law firms in Belfast such as Allen & Overy, Baker McKenzie, Arthur Cox etc. The LLM Law and Technology programme helps students gain a deep appreciation of how law interacts with technological innovation, for instance, with generative AI; or autonomous vehicles; or algorithmic decision-making in courts. What social challenges are posed by technological change? How does law address those challenges? And what impact does technological innovation have on the practice of law?
Drawing on the School of Law’s substantial profile in technology, e-governance, intellectual property and innovation, students on the programme have the opportunity to develop specialist expertise in law, governance and the ‘fourth industrial revolution.’
The programme places employability skills at its heart. Employers are very interested in law graduates who are tech-savvy and are clear and comfortable communicators, whether with clients or more generally. Guest contributors from major firms co-create our curriculum and are active in introducing LawTech applications in our teaching. We embed skills-development directly into the curriculum as such, through project-based learning work, computational skills and elsewhere.
Students can also benefit from the new industry-led mentoring programme to help you to acquire hands-on and industry-specific experience with firms such as PWC.
