DCU - January 2017

REMEDIATE supervisors and ESRs

Network meeting and mid-term review

Supervisors, Early Stage Researchers (ESRs), and the REMEDIATE project coordination team met at Dublin City University (DCU) in January 2017.

The meeting was held at the St Patrick’s campus of DCU. Brian Kelleher, Coren Pulleyblank, and Peter Brennan gave a welcome and introduction to the city and university. The Project Manager Julie-Anne Hanna gave an update on project progress and the promotion of the project. After lunch, the supervisors discussed the opportunities for cooperation between beneficiaries. The supervisory board meeting was followed by dinner where everyone had a chance to meet newly recruited ESRs, and catch up and share news with old friends.

The second day of the meeting was dedicated to the mid-term review of the project. Emanuela Galeazzi, the EU REA Project Officer, and Dr Susanne Ullrich (University of Southampton) attended the review. The review started with a tour de table: Scientists in Charge provided an overview of their organisations and the work being done. Presentations were then made by the Project Officer and the REMEDIATE Coordinator Dr Rory Doherty. ESRs then presented their progress reports along with their backgrounds and career aspirations. After a short break the Assessors met with the ESRs, and then gave feedback to the project attendees, with a short discussion.

The following organisations were represented at the meeting:
European Commission Research Executive Agency
Queen's University Belfast
Dublin City University
Cranfield University
University of Duisburg-Essen
TU Dortmund University
SUPREN GmbH
University of Copenhagen
University of Turin
TE Laboratories Ltd

We would like to thank Dublin City University for their generosity in hosting the Remediate network meeting and mid-term review, and the DCU staff who gave their time to organise a great meeting; especially Coren Pulleyblank, Peter Brennan, Irene Ryan, and Brian Kelleher.
