Remediate Summer School - Belfast 2016

Fellows from the ATBEST and REMEDIATE projects enjoying the sunshine in front of Queen's University Belfast

The first summer school in the REMEDIATE project was held at Queen’s University Belfast, over four days in June 2016.

Summer schools are a central part of the training in the project, bringing the Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) together to learn from experts in their fields, expand their transferable skills, and continue to get to know one another.

Based in the Graduate School, the theme of the week was “Site Investigation, Sampling Strategies, and Risk Assessment”. As well as classroom sessions, two visits to Belfast City Council sites undergoing remediation were organised.

We also enjoyed the company of ESRs and staff from ATBEST, another MSCA ETN which held its final summer school at the same time.

We would like to thank all the speakers who gave up their time to come and present at the summer school, and Belfast City Council for their support of the project.

Thanks also to the Graduate School at QUB for allowing us to hold the summer school in their beautiful building.
