What to do when things go wrong: using challenges, messiness and discomfort as resource with The Messy Coach, Jamie Pei
- Date(s)
- June 12, 2023
- Location
- Online (Zoom)
- Time
- 14:00 - 16:00
Instead of rushing to ‘fix’ problems and/or ignoring difficulties that may arise during their PhD, this workshop will guide participants to find more effective ways to accept and engage with the more uncomfortable moments of research. This could include, for example, occasions when things go wrong or having to deal with personal problems alongside the PhD. We will examine how to approach and engage with such challenges as helpful resources that can actually enrich our work and the overall research experience, rather than to meet them with fear and anxiety. The workshop will include and explore the following topics:
- Clarifying the aims and often messy processes of doctoral research
- How messiness in the PhD can ultimately be beneficial
- Journaling / meditation prompts for working through blocks
(Please book this workshop through My Future as it will be held on zoom and you will receive the link closer to the time.)
