Welcome to EEECS

Welcome to EEECS
Head of School - Prof. Karen Rafferty

Computing and communications technology influences so much of how we live today - the way we communicate, travel, make financial transactions, or receive medical care. A degree from the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EEECS) squarely positions our graduates within an industry that will impact the way we live today and in the future.

We perform world class research across within the Queen's Global Research Institute on Electronics, Communications and Information Technology (ECIT), the Pioneer Research Program on Intelligent Advanced Manufacturing Systems (iAMS), and a core disciplinary research Cluster in Electronics and Computer Engineering (ECE). Our Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) research was ranked 5th in the UK in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework.

With over 500 active industry partnerships, our research achieves societal and economic impact, while generating hundreds of jobs to the local economy. The industry is extensively involved in all our courses through embedded teaching, placement or scholarships. Most of our undergraduates spend one full paid year working in industry as part of their degree. On average, employment success rates for graduates from the School are greater than 85% within six months, a statistic not bettered by many others.

Our School is the largest and one of the most dynamic in the University. It is accredited with an Investors in People Sliver Standard in recognition for our efforts in developing our people to excel and be deep thinkers and future leaders. We work in world class facilities, including a brand new £14m Computer Science Building, the ECIT Institute in the Titanic Quarter, and the Ashby Building.
