Date(s)
May 23, 2023
Location
Queen's University Belfast
Time
10:00 - 17:00

Staff members from QUB Anthropology and the Anthropology Department at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) held a joint workshop at QUB on 23 May 2023 to discuss research and teaching synergies and to forge future collaborations between the two groups.

The workshop, organised by Dr Evi Chatzipanagiotidou (QUB) and Dr Stephen Millar (UvA), focused on the role of anthropological work in 'Transforming the Future'.

This collaborative workshop fostered discussions on how transformation is produced, experienced, and negotiated in various contexts. Modalities of transformation revolve around desired futures, and how we situate hope, collaboration and openness in these spaces. The workshop encouraged participants to consider the theme of ‘transformation’ in their own research and teaching agendas and in the context of austerity, the global pandemic, bordering/debordering/rebordering, colonisation/decolonisation, and the ongoing climate and environmental crisis.
