Welcome to Philosophy at Queen's, the focal point of philosophical research in Northern Ireland. We are a tightly-knit community of philosophers whose research is world class, ranking 9th among all UK philosophy departments in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework for research intensity.
We offer a wide range of undergraduate programmes and provide expert PhD supervision in a variety of distinctive research topics. We pride ourselves on the quality of our teaching and the innovative approaches we bring to exploring our subject.
"Philosophy at Queen’s aims to bridge the theoretical and practical, delving deep into, and questioning, the fundamental theories underpinning our views about ourselves and the world in which we live, and reflecting on how doing so can help us respond to the challenges we face today. In both our teaching and research our aim is to carefully question received ideas, doing so in a way that is both generous and supportive." Dr Tom Walker

Having the opportunity to study with lecturers who are not only respected in their field but also enthusiastic about teaching really does make for a fantastic and rewarding experience. The whole faculty has a unique atmosphere where both students and staff have a genuine passion for the subject which makes for a great university experience. If you’re on the fence at all bite the bullet and go for it! Craig Henderson
