The Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences invites applications for PhD Studentship Awards for study commencing in Autumn 2016. 36 DEL studentships are available in total and they will be allocated to outstanding students undertaking PhD study across the broad range of disciplines within the Faculty. The deadline for applications is 29 January 2016.
All DEL studentships will be awarded on a competitive basis to outstanding applicants who have:
- An excellent undergraduate degree (graded 2.1 or 1st);
- Completed, or are due to complete by September 2016, a Master’s degree in a relevant subject to an excellent standard (graded Merit or Distinction);
- An original and exciting research proposal of approximately 2,000 words that will contribute to the further enhancement of areas of research strength in the School;
- A positive academic reference (particularly important for individuals who have yet to finish their Master’s);
- Permanent residency in the UK (for studentships covering both fees and maintenance) or the EU/EEA (for fees only).
