Conceived in 2012, Happenstance was an attempt to combine the artistry of Ciaran Carson and Brian Ballard with the traditional craftsmanship of letterpress printing, screen printing and bookbinding. This resulted in a limited-edition book of unique quality, reflecting the value of the artforms contained within its covers.

It has been generously gifted to the Seamus Heaney Centre by Adrian Dunbar where it will be displayed to help us tell the story of writing at Queen's, and the creative outcomes of friendships between poets and artists.
