Pamphlets and Podcasts

Seamus Heaney began his journey to becoming a writer at Queen’s when he wrote poems for the student publication The Gorgon (Queen’s English Society). Many students have followed in his footsteps, and we continue the tradition of student and staff-led publications. We hold a small collection of pamphlets and publications that include all six copies of the Gorgon produced between 1959-1962, The Seamus Heaney Centre produced Yellow Nib and The Blackbird.

Since its inception, the Seamus Heaney Centre has had numerous events and has curated its own series of podcasts. These feature readings and interviews from many contemporary Irish writers, and writers connected to the centre. These include former fellows Lisa McGee, Marian Keyes and Jed Mercurio. The podcasts are available to listen here, and recordings of events not on our website are available by appointment.

To make an appointment please email: shcarchive@qub.ac.uk
