Since its origins in 2003 under the direction of Professor Ciaran Carson, acts of translation have been a part of the Seamus Heaney Centre’s programme.

Translation Day(s) - Call for Papers

Inviting abstracts for short (15min) papers on all aspects and forms of translation from early career researchers at the School of Arts, English and Languages at Queen’s University Belfast. We also want to hear from more established academics who are beginning to work with translation for the first time.
Since its origins in 2003 under the direction of Professor Ciaran Carson, acts of translation have been a part of the Seamus Heaney Centre’s programme. The Seamus Heaney Centre’s Translation Days are designed to reflect shared interests and instigate interdisciplinary dialogue across the School of Arts, English and Languages at Queen’s, and to share the research of our colleagues with audiences outside the University. Academic papers are complemented by discussion events, performances and screenings.
Translation Day(s) will take place in the Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen's University, Belfast on Fri 17 -Sat 18 Oct 2025.
