Ciaran O'Neill

PROFESSOR CIARAN O'NEILL

Ciaran is a Professor of Health Economics at Queens University Belfast, Adjunct Professor of Health Economics at NUI Galway and an associate of Clinical Costing Solutions. He has over 30 years of experience in the application of economics to health and healthcare including the analysis of systems, the evaluation of new technologies and the examination of the source and removal of disparities in health and healthcare. Ciaran has extensive experience in competitively funded research studies, as well as studies funded by industry and the charitable sector. He has served as Dean of the College of Business Public Policy and Law at NUI Galway, chair of the Northern Ireland Health Economics Group and of the Health Economics Association of Ireland as well as on a number of ad hoc advisory committees in Northern Ireland, Ireland and New Zealand. He has published over 200 peer reviewed publications and reports.  

Ciaran attended Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) where he received a BSc in Economics, followed by PhD in Agricultural Economics.  He has worked as a health economist at Queens University Belfast, Ulster University, the University of Nottingham, the National University of Ireland, Galway and held visiting positions at a number of US institutions.
