Polymer Processing Research Centre

In addition to undertaking industrially relevant research and development into new polymeric materials and processes, the Polymer Processing Research Centre (PPRC) has a central supporting role to much of the more strategic and longer term polymer research undertaken in the Polymers Research Cluster at Queen’s University. It also combines a variety of functions from training research staff, students and industrial personnel, to working directly on commercially relevant problems, underpinned by a strong team of specialized and highly experienced Project Engineers.

Knowledge Transfer Centre

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships are based on partnerships between academic groups and companies who need access to skills and knowledge in order to innovate. The academic and industrial partners jointly devise and manage a two or three year programme to achieve the advances the company needs. This programme of work is carried out in the company by a KTP Associate and the resulting relationship can be very challenging and rewarding to all parties.

KTP offers opportunities in a wide range of disciplines including engineering, business and management, IT, pharmacy and medicine and design. Many Partnerships can be inter-disciplinary and the companies involved range from multi-nationals to very small firms.

Invest NI

As Northern Ireland's business development agency, the aim of Invest NI is to support new and existing business to grow and compete internationally, and to attract new inward investment to Northern Ireland.

QUBIS Ltd was established in 1984 by The Queen's University of Belfast to commercialise the University's research and development activities through the formation of 'spin-out' businesses. Qubis Ltd is an investment vehicle, holding company which takes an equity holding in a new spin-out venture in return for an investment of cash and/or Intellectual Property. Qubis Ltd 'pulls through' appropriate R & D from the laboratory into the commercial market place.

NI Design Alliance

The NI Design Alliance are a group of design professionals who believe that great design makes things better for people, for business and for the planet. They also believe that to produce great design in Northern Ireland, there is a need to develop local design talent and invest in designers. How? By developing their skills, their confidence and, above all, their understanding of how they can make a real difference to our commercial and social landscape. Now and in the future.
