Wiles Lectures 2025
The Wiles Lectures 2025 will be given by Professor Sven Beckert, Laird Bell Professor of American History at Harvard University
on the topic:
'Rethinking the History of Global Capitalism'
These four public lectures will be given in person at Queen's University Belfast on 28-31 May 2025.
The capitalist revolution is the most impactful event of the past millennium. Recasting human life on Earth from its most intimate aspects to its largest structures, capitalism has turned our economies, societies and politics upside down. These lectures, based on the author’s just finished book, Capitalism: A Global History, explore important aspects of that history by considering the temporal and spatial structures of capitalism and charting some of the largest transformations within that astoundingly undogmatic, diverse and global way of organizing economic life. |
