Students on Queen’s University’s MA in Public History celebrate 2025 Public History internships

This year’s cohort of HAPP students on the MA in Public History have marked the successful completion of their internships at our annual poster exhibition and reception in Queen’s University’s Great Hall. Each of them produced and exhibited a poster which explained and reflected on their internship experience.
This year a total of 22 students carried out internships with a diverse range of host organisations including PRONI; Belfast Central Library; the Linen Hall Library; the Museum of Free Derry; National Museums NI; the Museum of Youth Culture; Down Museum; Belfast Central Library and Archives; Doubleband Films; the National Trust; Clifton House; the Mellon Centre for Migration Studies; Cara Friend; North Belfast Heritage Cluster; the Belfast Street Names Project; the Belfast Archive Project; the Seamus Heaney Centre QUB; and the Generations of Freedom/People of Natchez project. As always we are deeply indebted to our partners for providing such rich and rewarding experiences for our students.
We were delighted to see so many of our partner organisations represented at the event, evidence of just how engaged they are with our students. We were particularly pleased to welcome back five recent graduates from our MA programme, now employed by the Public Records Office of Northern Ireland, who came along to support the current group of students. We hope to see many more former students back with us in the future.
