Mind wandering has been studied extensively in adult populations, generating valuable insights into its nature and functional aspects. However, despite its clear implications for educational outcomes and psychopathology, there remains a notable evidence gap concerning the developmental trajectory of mind wandering in children and adolescents. To address this gap, this workshop aims to bring together researchers actively investigating mind wandering in younger populations. The talks will feature presentations by experts in the field:

  • Dr Lisa Jonkman (Maastricht University)
  • Dr Agnieszka Graham (Queen’s University Belfast)
  • Professor Suliann Ben Hamed (Institut des Sciences Cognitives Marc Jeannerod)
  • Dr Nadia Dario (University of Salerno) and Dr Kristine Lund (University of Lyon)
  • Dr Ferdinand Hoffmann (Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin)

Keynote Speaker:

  • Dr Michael Mrazek (UTHealth Houston) presenting 'Finding Focus: Empowering Teens to Reclaim Their Attention'

The objective is to provide an overview of the current state of research in these domains, highlighting key findings, methodological challenges, and potential implications for theory and practice in developmental psychology and related fields. By convening experts in this area, the workshop aims to stimulate further discussion and collaboration to advance our understanding of mind wandering across different stages of development.
