Data Duo Mentoring at Queen's Business School brings together business professionals and current students on our MSc Business Analytics course to develop a mutually beneficial relationship, shaping leaders in business analytics.
The increase in the volume, variety, and velocity of data creates opportunities for businesses to improve decision making and develop new data driven products and services. However, industry reports show a global shortage of data science expertise and understanding of how to utilise data to business advantage.
MSc Business Analytics students are learning to use cutting edge and industry standard tools and techniques, developing expertise in end-to-end business analytics solutions and using data for decision-making purposes.
We are offering business professionals the opportunity to tap into the skillset of one of our students to bridge the gaps between business and data.
Utilise a student mentor at no cost to your business.
Although our students are tech-savvy, they are still in the early stages of developing their business experience and making their mark on the working world. They have few professional connections and little experience in managing people and projects, leading meetings, marketing or selling.
With your business experience, you can help to develop our students and give back to the next generation. Developing meaningful mentoring connections with students can lead to personal and business growth, and potential recruitment opportunities for good candidates in the future.

Expectations
Each mentoring relationship will be two-way, so that both parties benefit. A mentoring cycle will last three months. To ensure that this is a efficient and beneficial relationship for everyone, we set three clear expectations:
- Scheduled time in the calendar with your mentoring partner: alternating sessions or using half an hour per session to cover each person.
- Implementation of the learnings gained.
- A review of progress with each other.

Data Duo Mentoring is for professionals across all industries, from businesses of any size. Each professional is matched with a Business Analytics student by our team.
The first cohort of mentoring relationships began in March 2023. We will be we capturing learnings and recommendations to improve the project before we open applications again.
