The Department of Information Technology, Analytics, & Operations (ITAO) brings together expertise in data science, business analytics, digital innovations, and operations and supply chain management.
We conduct industry-relevant research and help organisations generate business value from digital technologies, make better data-informed decisions, create environmentally sustainable operations, and develop effective supply chain solutions.
We provide excellent research-led teaching to undergraduates, postgraduates and working professionals. Our teaching portfolio covers the application of analytics in core business functions such as marketing and human resources, as well as the development and application of technical skills such as advanced analytics and machine learning and data management.

Queen's Business School has specific expertise in the growing fields of data, analytics, and AI - including cutting-edge academic research expertise, advisory roles and applied practical project experience, and education through our MSc Business Analytics.
The QBS Analytics Lab supports SMEs, government agencies, and social enterprises to leverage business data and analytics to drive innovation, address challenges, and enhance decision making.
Academics within the Department of ITAO contribute regularly to peer-reviewed international conferences and have published original research in competitive scholarly journals including Information Systems Research, Production and Operations Management, Omega, European Journal of Operational Research and the British Journal of Management.

An active community of doctoral students are exploring data science, business analytics, digital innovations, and operations and supply chain management in the Department of ITAO. PhD students benefit from attending courses and tailor-made reading groups, and have access to the School's seminar series, which attracts leading global academics.
Vikram Ramakrishnan is in the final year of his PhD researching the use of advanced analytics to facilitate Industrial Symbiosis in Agri-food networks.
