Writing Groups
There are many ways to get involved with writing at Queen's. Even if you aren't a student, you can join some of our writing groups like Write Night or the Wednesday poetry workshop.
The Wednesday Group

The Wednesday Group is a poetry workshop group, started by our founding director Ciaran Carson. Since Ciaran's death in 2019, they have continued to meet, beginning the session with one of his poems, before sharing their own work.
The Group has recently begun meeting online in weekly Zoom calls, hosted and chaired by poet and PhD candidate Andrew Rahal, with some guest tutors dropping in during the course of the year. The group is keen to welcome new members to join in their weekly discussions. To find out more, contact shc@qub.ac.uk
Write Night
Write Night brings together writers of any genre to write silently together. It is a space for ideas and exploration, first drafts and final edits, and a time dedicated to your writing each week.
While the real-world gathering is temporarily on hold, writing must still go on! In a weekly email, poet and Write Night host Andrew Rahal shares insights and approaches to his own writing practice, drawing on diverse sources from Susan Sontag to Dr Seuss. Subscribe here.
The Scribblers

The Scribblers (or Queen's Writers' Society) is open to all students at Queen's University Belfast, from any course or discipline. It is the place to connect with other burgeoning writers and hone your writing skills.
Scribblers is open to anyone that has a passion to write. Be it poetry, plays or prose, they offer a warm community of peers with the express goal of honing your craft through regular workshops, and other events. Find out more here.
