School of Pharmacy Celebrates Success at Winter Graduation Ceremony

11 December, 2025

The School of Pharmacy celebrated its winter graduates at a ceremony held on Thursday 11th December in the University's historic Whitla Hall, marking the achievements of students across the School's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

School of Pharmacy

The graduation ceremony was followed by a celebration event at the School of Pharmacy, providing an opportunity for graduates, families, and staff to commemorate this significant milestone together.

The ceremony caps what has been an exceptional year for the School of Pharmacy, which has achieved remarkable recognition both nationally and internationally. Most notably, the School secured 19th place globally for Pharmacy and Pharmacology in the QS world subject rankings, cementing its position amongst the world's leading pharmacy education institutions.

The School's commitment to equality and inclusion was also recognised this year, receiving an Athena Swan Gold Award from Advance HE. This prestigious accolade acknowledges the School's sustained dedication to gender equality and represents a significant achievement, as it is currently the only School of Pharmacy in the UK and Ireland to hold this award.

Individual excellence has also been celebrated throughout the year, with multiple members of staff winning awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions to both teaching and research activities. These achievements reflect the School's continued commitment to academic excellence and innovation in pharmacy and the pharmaceutical sciences.

The winter graduation ceremony represents not only the culmination of years of dedicated study for the graduates but also demonstrates the School's ongoing success in developing the next generation of healthcare and industry professionals. Graduates from the various programmes will go on to pursue diverse career paths, from community and hospital pharmacy to pharmaceutical research and development, regulatory affairs, and academia.

Speaking of the event, Professor Gavin Andrews, Head of the School of Pharmacy, commented:

"We are immensely proud of our graduating students and their achievements. This ceremony celebrates not only their hard work and dedication but also our School's tradition of excellence in pharmacy and pharmaceutical education. As they embark on their professional careers, our graduates carry with them the knowledge, skills, and values that will enable them to make meaningful contributions to healthcare and pharmaceutical sciences."

The School extends its congratulations to all graduates and wishes them success in their future professional endeavours.
